USS Angeles members wrinkled over to Burbank March 11 to see “A Wrinkle in Time” at the AMC Burbank 16.
Dave Mason and I met up with Karen Hoagland, who was celebrating her birthday, and her longtime friend Debbie Don to enjoy the movie and dinner at the nearby Islands Fine Burgers & Drinks restaurant. It turned out Debbie had “A Wrinkle in Time” star Storm Reid in her fifth-grade classroom for three months when Debbie was a substitute teacher at Toluca Lake Elementary School in North Hollywood.
After the movie, Jay Gerber suddenly arrived at our table at the restaurant as if some mystical force had deposited him there. Jay said he was a big fan of Islands restaurant, but was not as interested in “A Wrinkle in Time.” So he chose to skip the movie but came to enjoy burgers, fries, conversation and birthday cake with us.
