SAN MARINO — Betazed is even more diverse than “Star Trek: The Next Generation” suggested.

Lisa Sobien and I discovered that when we beamed down Feb. 23 during a USS Angeles mission to the Huntington Library and Botanical Gardens.

The site in San Marino, a Pasadena suburb, served as a filming location for “Ménage à Troi,” an episode in which a Ferengi captures Deanna Troi, Will Riker and Troi’s mother Lwaxana. Lisa and I stood at the location of Riker and Troi’s date (interrupted by Lwaxana), which is in the gardens’ Lily Ponds.

Lisa and I also explored the Japanese Garden and other sections as we saw a jungle waterfall and the desert in one day.
