Welcome to the Official Website of the USS Angeles. The Angeles is the premier Star Trek, Science Fiction and Fantasy social organization of Los Angeles, California. Our club’s interests range from Star Trek, to Star Wars, Dr. Who, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Babylon 5, The X-Files, and many, many other genre shows, movies, and books.

We hold monthly club meetings in a variety of locations, including members’ homes, parks, and occasionally even at public sites used for the filming of Star Trek episodes and movies. By varying the location of our meetings, we allow our members who are spread throughout the Los Angeles area to not always need to travel far in order to see their friends in the club.

The Angeles was founded in 1995, and we are affiliated with STARFLEET International (SFI). We are SFI’s Los Angeles chapter, having won Chapter of the Year in both 2001 and 2004, for STARFLEET’s western area, Region 4! USS Angeles members are welcome to join SFI as an added fan experience; however, it is not a requirement to join SFI in order to be a member of the USS Angeles. Membership on the Angeles is broken up into two categories: Standard and Electronic. The Standard membership (see here for prices and how to join ) option allows you to receive all club mailings (monthly meetings, special parties, etc.), renewal notices and our Award Winning club newsletter, “Angels Flight” (which features regular news on club gatherings, trips, conventions, Trek book news, and many photos of club activities). The Electronic option allows you to receive your club notifications and the club newsletter, “Angels Flight” via email. You can choose either option when you sign up.

The Angeles has two e-mail “listserves” available, both hosted by Yahoo! Groups: for Angeles members there is “Angeles-Chat”, which is our more casual, member only list where we announce club gatherings, Trek related news and non-Trek related news, and members can post to this list as it serves as the main communications link between most of our members.

And for everyone we have “Angeles-News” which is our announcements only news list where the Command Staff posts information pertaining to the Star Trek and/or science fiction items of interest. We have some really cool sources for Trek and science fiction news within our group. Anyone can subscribe to the NEWS list, whether or not they are a member of our club.

One of our favorite activities is to visit the places where Star Trek has been filmed over the last 40 years. Such as the Japanese Gardens in Van Nuys, which has served as the filming location of both Starfleet Academy and Starfleet Headquarters from TNG through to Enterprise. We also regularly visit Griffith Park (Fern Dell was a DS9 filming location); Charlton Flats in the Angeles National Forest was the filming location for “First Contact”; Vasquez Rocks in Agua Dulce, where Capt. Kirk fought the Gorn captain in “Arena”. We are always looking for new locations to visit and explore. Our latest journeys have taken us to Yosemite National Park (May 2006), which was used in ST 5 The Final Frontier, and many other beautiful and cool places.

Do take the time to explore our photo archives and see what fun we’ve been having, our main goal on the Angeles is to have FUN! So we get out and explore our great city of Los Angeles, by visiting museums, parks, famous historical places, festive annual events (Renaissance Faire) and many others. We also gather to watch and discuss Trek episodes, movies or books.

There is so much that we do and offer that hopefully you’ll find something fun and exciting to take part in. We are always looking for member’s input for activities, parties, places to visit, etc. so if you have something you’d like to share, please contact me.
