FULLERTON, Calif. — The USS Discovery led the USS Angeles all the way to a planet Spock knows well: Talos IV.
We watched “If Memory Serves,” the “Star Trek: Discovery” sequel to the first “Star Trek” pilot “The Cage,” at Fox Theater in Fullerton. That’s the Southern California home of members Sue-Ellen and Carl Fox, who projected the episode Sept. 7 on their big screen before nine people in comfy seats. (With cup holders!) Thank you for hosting, Sue-Ellen and Carl!
Before we watched “Discovery” episodes, we enjoyed a potluck that’s better than anything you can get from a replicator. The delicious dishes included chicken, sandwiches, pizza, potato salad, chocolate chip cookies and cheesecake!
Our stomachs full, we discussed our club’s upcoming adventures and welcomed our newest member: Jan Sobien, Lisa Sobien’s mother.
Besides Jan, Lisa, the hosts and me, the Fox Theater audience included Andy Sobien, Jan’s husband and Lisa’s father; Jennifer Cole; Gloria Rodriguez; and Brian Nomi.
After we discussed club business, we enjoyed watching “If Memory Serves.”
That’s the episode in which Lt. Cmdr. Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) brings Spock (Ethan Peck, movie legend Gregory Peck’s grandson) to Talos IV. The USS Discovery later goes there, and Capt. Christopher Pike (Anson Mount) reunites with Vina (Melissa George), who lives on Talos IV.
We also saw the episode “Red Angel,” in which the USS Discovery crew tries to capture the mysterious time traveler who has appeared throughout the second season of the CBS All Access series.
Our party was a fun gathering of fans who love “Star Trek.” It’s never too late to join our club, even if you’re not a time traveler. Just click on “Join us” on this page, and you’ll receive our calendar, award-winning newsletter and access to our chat-list. Most of all, you’ll be able to join our adventures. Make it so!
