PALOS VERDES ESTATES — Everything from Capt. Picard’s favorite tea, Earl Grey (hot!), to scones with delicious jams were served during the first Founder’s Tea.
Janice Willcocks and her mother hosted the event Feb. 11 at their home in Palos Verdes Estates.
Fourteen sharply dressed people sat at tables with the Willcocks’ fine china and classy teapots. We enjoyed cucumber, tuna, egg salad and ham-and-cheese sandwiches, along with scones and crumpets and a variety of jams.
We sipped several teas in addition to Earl Grey. I liked the red berries version!
For dessert, we enjoyed delicious cupcakes.
Janice and her mother did a great job with this classy and fun event!
Later at the tea, seven Angeles members gathered in the living room to recognize outstanding members and discuss upcoming activities.
I awarded Paul Szymborski the Order of Sarek for his work during AIDS Walk Los Angeles. Paul has raised more money for AIDS Walk over the years than any other Angeles member. He collected more than half of the ship’s total of more than $750 for his year’s walk.
Paul also received his promotion and a pip to ensign.
And I gave pips to Jackie Freeman, a lieutenant, and Lisa Sobien, an ensign.
More about Angeles activities will be in the March issue of Angels Flight, which goes to members. To receive the newsletter, click on “Join us” at the top of the page.
