‘Star Trek,’ ‘Back to the Future’ and more

USS Angeles members celebrated the 49th anniversary of “Star Trek” Sept. 12 with a potluck, great conversation and promotion of dedicated members.
Our activities continue as we head to UCLA Royce Hall Sept. 27 to see the American Youth Symphony play during a screening of “Star Trek Into Darkness” (2013) and as we see the movie “The Martian” Oct. 3 in Woodland Hills. Matt Damon stars in the adaptation of Andrew Weir’s great novel.
On Oct. 10, we’ll head to Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena for an open house about the unmanned spacecraft program and its successful voyages. (Pluto has never looked better!) On Oct. 11, we’re participating in AIDS Walk Los Angeles in West Hollywood.
And our annual Halloween party on Oct. 24 in Simi Valley will take a “Back to the Future” theme to celebrate the franchise’s 30th anniversary.
Great Scott, we’re an active ship! (As Doc Brown might say.) Join us for our adventures. For more information, email me at dave@ussangeles.org. Live long, prosper and enjoy chocolate (a staple of the Angeles)!
