VENTURA, Calif. — The Witch cast her spell on a helpless crowd.

The horror grew this night as a monstrous kitty entered the patio and the Grim Reaper stepped forward.

It was enough to make us scream.

And laugh.

The USS Angeles had a great time during our annual Halloween Party Oct. 19.

Hosts Paul Szymborski and Jenny Taylor, aka the Grim Reaper and the Witch, welcomed fellow members Lisa Sobien, Chris Mulrooney and me into their home. The party also included two more of Paul and Jenny’s friends.

The hosts did a great job decorating their home and patio. Outside, we faced scary sights and sounds, including one from a feline skeleton. This kitty wasn’t saying “meow”!

Inside, Paul sent us into a closet to face a skeleton! We escaped only to face monstrous critters and other terrifying sights.

We survived the haunted home by indulging in wonderful food. We also had fun creating Halloween videos, which Chris filmed and directed. I enjoyed playing the victim in them as I faced a zombie (portrayed by Lisa) and the Grim Reaper. Jenny did a great job casting her spells in one video.

And Paul’s friends got into character in their brief episode when they danced and otherwise performed to music brought by Chris.

Lisa came to the party as a beautiful Queen. Chris kept us all safe as an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. And I proudly represented Starfleet in my uniform.

Thank you for hosting, Jenny and Paul!
