USS Angeles sees ‘Star Wars’ film

By Commanding Officer Dave Mason
The USS Angeles had a great time watching “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” complete with the trailer for “Star Trek Beyond,” Dec. 19 at the Cineramadome at Arclight Cinemas in Hollywood. (There are no plot spoilers ahead.)
Nine of us gathered for the movie, including some in costume: Cliff Gardner as Mace Windu, Jay Gerber as Obi-Wan Kenobi from the first “Star Wars” movie (“New Hope,” 1977), Chris Mulrooney as a Jedi master and Renee Wike as a Jedi apprentice. The costumes looked great! Chris was photographed with many people, including kids, in the main theater building’s lobby.
Others with us were Donna, Lisa Sobien, Karen Hoagland and Janice Willcocks.
We found the movie to be a great ride. I thought the characters, new and old, were fantastic. We’ll figure out a day to see it again at El Capitan in Hollywood, likely in January. (We saw it in 3D and were impressed with how the effects impressed us without distracting us.)
Happy holidays!
